The PepTone Boss DS-1 Mod is a pedal that produces an astounding tone for dedicated amp lovers. Now when comparing to the PepTone Boss BD-2 Mod (another super amp pedal), the PepTone DS-1 Mod pedal carries more tonal character where the BD-2 Mod was focused more on a fully liquid-transparent Gain pedal. The PepTone DS-1 Mod isn't the liquid transparent gain pedal but comes nothing short of amazing and pure Distortion with tons of tonal options that will suit any guitar setups, yes it works great even for Bass rigs.
You have the option via 3-position toggle to have the options of a Tube Distortion, Grit Boost and a Silky Rectifier distortion with the Gain Toggle (Via Outside toggle) as well as the option via 2-position toggle to switch the Mids EQ from slightly scooped to a pushed "humped" Mids setting (Via inside toggle).
This is honestly our most versatile pedal to date.
The Mod:
*Several Mods to beef up the distortion. Now this one is beefed up to the max! Thicker tube tone to really give you the voicing you need from your guitar for sustain and clarity.
*1st toggle: Gain 3-position for 1. Tube Crunch/Distortion, 2. Boosted and more "open" and gritty and 3. the Smoother "rectifier" distortion/gain settings. ---When switching from one gain type to another there will be a significant drop in volume for some of the more saturated gains. You will have to adjust the Volume knob appropriately when toggling between the gain options.
*2nd toggle is a 2-position Mids EQ switch for 1. "Stock setting" Scooped Mids and 2. PepTone EQ; Pushed "Humped" Mids with a full body tone.
*More gain range for a more "Grit Boost" option to the all out distortion/gain monster in a box. From low gain settings to high gain settings this pedal produces amp tones left and right.
*Several Hi-Fi Mods completed.
*Upgraded knobs! Yes, Boss made the knob placement really weird. The tone is where the volume normally is and so on and so forth. So we made the Tone knob a different shaped knob so it sticks out and when you make an "on the fly" adjustment you dont tweak the wrong knob!
*Clear Ultra Bright LED: Color of your choice of course!
Pedal Tips:
This pedal works really well to thicken up a Bass guitar rig. If you need that extra push for songs or maybe an "always ON" pedal for some extra character and color, this pedal works really well.
Great pedal when used as a push your amp pedal. Use for solos, leave on all the time or use it to drive your single coils more like your humbuckers...an extremely versatile pedal.
One of those pedals that works well with all types of amps. Low wattage, high wattage, British made, American made...put it in ANY test.
This pedal is AMAZING on Humbuckers and P-90 type in any gain setting in my opinion. I feel that the single coils really shine mainly with the medium to higher gains. Well, the best way to put it, see the Mod name B.O.T. - Box Of Tone!

This PepTone Boss DS-1 Mod has two toggle switches which gives you Gain options on one and a Mids EQ option on the other.

Low Gains to High Gains, Scooped Mids to Pushed Mids, Crunch Gain to Silky Gain...it just keeps going.

The Mod:
*Upgraded Op-Amp for more touch and adds great sustain and harmonics. Overall, a more dynamic and "real feel" gain structure to get the amp tone.
