The Idea of the Mod:

Good compressors are great pedals to have.  A true compressor can be used for big time squish and squash and then can be used as a ‘slight’ tone enhancer with just a hint of compression.  They can be used as a “push your amp” pedal with cranked gain that gets smooth results or maybe just a clean boost.  Well, this is what the Boss CS-3 pedal now dishes out with the PepTone CS-3 Modification.  Think of it as a vintage sounding Compressor with Modern flexibility can capabilities.

Use the Mod as a ‘slight’ tone enhancer to just fatten up your tone so the strings just pop out.  Use it as a big squish to your six or twelve string guitar for some vintage Byrds tones. Use it for your BASS! Yes, we improved the depth so it can now outperform other Bass compressors.  You can use this pedal as a clean boost or as a gain “push your amp” pedal.  With the tone control option you can optimize the pedal to tune to your guitars output and overall tone structure.

The Mod:

*More focused EQ that can dial in better tone options without muddying up or getting too brittle. Very transparent.

*A more delicate overall tone structure so the compressor doesn’t sound overwhelmed even at high compression settings.

*More clarity added. No muddy Mids OR Bass; what really makes a GOOD compressor.

*Better range that allows you to use the pedal as an all out clean boost or use it to push your amp.

Pedal Tips:

Great pedal when used as a pure clean boost. FAT.

Tag team it up with your favorite Overdrive pedal.  Place it BEFORE the OD pedal in the chain and use the Compressor with Slight Compression and it will give you great sustain! Note: Use a PepTone Troop; put the CS-3 Mod with an overdrive in the Loop section and use the Troop to switch on BOTH the OD and PepTone CS-3 Mod at the same time.

This pedal has the range to fatten even up a Bass guitar!
