The Idea of the Mod:

The PepTone Boss DS-1 Mod is a pedal that produces an astounding tone for amp lovers.  Now unlike the PepTone Boss BD-2 Mod, this pedal carries more character since its a bit less transparent and is gives you the tools to tailor the EQ of your tone.  The BD-2 Mod like we say has a transparent amp feel and tone.  This DS-1 Mod via dual toggles gives you the option to switch from Crunch, Grit Boost and a Silky distortion AND to switch the Mids EQ from slightly scooped to pushed "humped" Mids.  The results of the two toggles are astounding: the Gain toggle is a 3 position toggle and the Mids EQ toggle is a 2 position toggle.  

This pedal Mod is NOT for the Lo-Fi lovers.  This is a pedal that stands and beats anything you put it up against. You will turn heads and people will look in disbelief when they see that ever so common orange box produce such a sweet and pure tone.   

The Mod:

*Upgraded Op-Amp for more touch and adds great sustain and harmonics. Overall, a more dynamic and "real feel" gain structure to get the amp tone.

*The tone is beefed up to the max! Thicker tube tone to really give you the voicing you need from your guitar for sustain and clarity.

*1st toggle: Gain 3-position for Tube Crunch, Boosted and more "open" and gritty and the Smoother "rectifier" distortion/gain settings.

*2nd toggle is a 2-position Mids EQ switch for Scooped Mids and Pushed "Humped" Mids.

*More gain range for a more "Grit Boost" option to the all out distortion/gain monster in a box.  From low gain settings to high gain settings this pedal produces amp tones left and right.

*Upgraded knobs! Yes, Boss made the knob placement really weird. The tone is where the volume normally is and so on and so forth.  So we made the Tone knob a different shaped knob so it sticks out and when you make an "on the fly" adjustment you dont tweak the wrong knob!

*Clear Ultra Bright LED: Color of your choice of course!

Pedal Tips:

Great pedal when used as a push your amp pedal.  Use for solos, leave on all the time or use it to drive your single coils more like your humbuckers...an extremely versatile pedal.

One of those pedals that works well with all types of amps.  Low wattage, high wattage, British made, American made...put it in ANY test.

This pedal is AMAZING on Humbuckers and P-90 type in any gain setting in my opinion. I feel that the single coils really shine mainly with the medium to higher gains. Well, the best way to put it, see the Mod name B.O.T. - Box Of Tone!
